God's Timing Is Always

"God's Timing Is Always"

This expression sounds funny at first, but let me explain....

The other day as I was ministering to a new friend of mine, we were talking about what it would be like for Him to encounter God in a way that would totally free him up to experience the life that God has for him.

He said, "All in God's timing."

All of a sudden out of nowhere I said, "God's timing is always."

So here is the explanation:

When does God want us to encounter Him - Always

When does God want to reveal to us who we are in Him - Always

When does God want to reveal His love to us - Always

When does God want to demonstrate the power of the Gospel- Always

When does God want to break bondages in our life - Always

When does God want fill us with His Spirit – Always

I could keep going, but I think you get the point.

We often limit God with a mindset that says "Well, we will have that in His timing." Now, it is true that many things in life do have a specific timing in God's plan, relationships, careers, etc. But, things like freedom, deliverance, connectedness to God, vision, identity in Christ, and many other things are not meant to be experienced at some point in the future. Rather, they are to be experienced in the present.

One of the worst things we can do is to avoid what God wants to do in our lives in the present under the guise that it is something that will just have to happen in the future. Sometimes when we say, "In God's timing," we really mean "In our timing." God constantly seeks to transform us into images of Christ, the people of God, and lights to the world. He wants to fill us with vision and purpose that emanates from Him. He wants to free us from the power of sin and bondages that come from satan. There is so much more that could be considered when thinking about what God wants to do in each person right at this moment; in my life as I write this; in your life as you read this.

Again, I'm not saying that "God's timing is always" applies to material blessings, longed for relationships, perfect clarity for your next 10 years of life. However, we must shift our minds away from a mindset that says "I can just seek God in the future", or "I can just encounter Him in a few weeks." His timing is always. He loves His children. James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

God has many good gifts that far surpass what our earthly minds desire or could even fathom. He wants us to come to him in humility, sincerity, and devotion, and as we do He will respond with His love, His freedom, and His direction for our lives.

It is not something that has to be relegated to the future. We don’t have to get our lives right before we can encounter God. We don’t have to get our lives right before we can be set free by Him. We can find our identity in Him today, right now. Let’s not use God’s timing as an excuse that keeps us from God in our personal lives because the truth is:

God’s timing is always.
